What's the difference between web design and web development?Every web site has two halves: what the user sees in the browser, and what goes on behind the scenes. When the user clicks on your shopping cart, a whole bunch of stuff happens that no one sees-the credit card is charged, a confirmation email is sent, a fulfillment order is placed, etc. Design is the front end; development is the back end.

Your site must be constructed from the very beginning with easy content flow and good use of keywords from headers and links right on down into the content and navigation structure. Ignoring search engine optimization in site design could doom your site from the start.
Can't I just use Open Source code and save some money?Yes, you could. We don't recommend it, though. Open Source means really open source. Everybody knows how it works and how to hack it. Some of it is more adaptable and customizable than the rest, so if you want a truly secure and customized site, Open Source is not the best way to get it.
